Holding boundless riches of creation within her womb, she is Shakambhari, the Mother of the Universe. Her world-enchanting, benevolent form is revered across the globe today. For so long, the passion of Bengalis revolved around this dispeller-of-distress form against all worldly injustice and adversity. But over time, that fervor crossed Bengal’s borders to touch the threshold of the global Bengali long ago; today, it has manifested in the form of Bhuvaneshwari. All this while, Bengalis remembered her in their hearts as Jagajjanani Sharada, and today that has gained universal acclaim through UNESCO’s recognition. Rising above caste, creed, and color, the Mother will now become the dispeller of sorrow in every home. Thus, completing her world voyage, her barge has anchored at our shores on this autumn morning. This joyous manifestation of her homecoming after conquering the world is ‘Bhuvaneshwari Sharada’.
